Using Technology to keep yourself safe.

Something you might want to think about and do and soon!

I read a good article in the current issue of the Cattleman’s magazine entitled “Get Emergency Care Fast”.

I have the GPS coordinates on the saddle house door at Chimney Hill as I figure that Air One can get me to the Shannon Hospital in San Angelo much faster than my F150 will or the boys in Mertzon.

You might want to get the coordinates for a couple of locations where a helicopter could put down on the ranch in case you need help from stroke, heart attack, snake bite, gun shot or ATV accident. You may not be able to move the patient back to the ranch house/barn and just need a clear spot in the pasture for a pick up point.

The medical helicopter is going to have the paramedic and critical care folks on board. 160 miles per hour cross country as the crow flies is much quicker than Highway 67 or 87. Check to make sure you have signal strength on your cell phone from those locations in advance.

Put the coordinates in your phone notes or tape them on your gunstock etc. Time is not on your side when all hell breaks loose.

Check with your insurance company too and see what they pay.

I hope you never have to use any of this but like the Boy Scout motto….Be Prepared.

Better tomorrows.
